World-wide, coral reefs are located in tropical oceans (some temperate
but not much).
There are two main areas of coral reef in the world - the
Atlantic/Carribean and the Indo-Pacific.

The first is much smaller than
the second, and if you divide the second into Indo (Africa, India) and
Pacific (South east Asia and Oceania), again the second has about 90%.
Australia is in the southern end of the world's largest concentration
of corals, and on top of that it has the world's largest single reef
system - the Great
Barrier Reef, along the coast of Queensland. In the
north-west, we also have Ningaloo
Reef - the second largest in Australia.
