There
is a lot of moss growing in parts of Australia, but what are moss plants?
Mosses are small plants that grow like a carpet in moist and dark
areas, often in a closed forest, and they consist of leaves but have no
flowers or seeds, and they reproduce in the same way as ferns.

There are about 12000
species
of them world wide, and most are very small
plants.
They are non woody, non vascular plants, with no proper roots, but
so called rhizoids.
Unlike roots, the rhizoids
are not used to absorb water or nutrients, those are taken in via
leaves.

reproduce with spore capsules.
