Backpacker Accommodation in Australia
Australia's
backpacker
accommodation is excellent - there are hostels,
lodges,
guest houses.. They are more than just somewhere to stay - they are
great places to meet people, party, get help with finding jobs, get
information, anything you need as an independent traveller. The value
is excellent too - they are not old and crappy but clean, well
maintained places that are very reasonably priced. Punch in your
destination and see what's available.
Backpacker Jobs
And you don't need to be rich to go backpacking Australia. If you have
the right visa
you
can work your way around Australia, which means
having a lot of fun and meeting a lot of other people who do exactly
the same. Fruit picking jobs are the most popular, but you can also
work within other industries, from outback cattle farms to city
restaurants.

Backpacker Campervans
A lot of backpackers get around by bus travel in Australia, and long
distance buses really do take you almost everywhere in this country.
Still, once your working months are done and you want to go for a trip
around Australia, bus travel is no longer quite as handy, unless you
don't mind a lot of packing and bag dragging.
Hiring a backpacker
campervan is a
great way to make your travels much more comfortable. No need to stay
in hostels and pack your bag every morning - you can stop where you
like, sleep in your van, cook your meals inside, and camp for very
cheap or even free.
The van may cost
you, but you save money because you don't have to pay for
accommodation, eating out, or bus
tickets, which, if you think back to the prices, really weren't cheap
per kilometre. You can
compare the prices and pick your choice of the van here:
Backpacking Equipment
The term 'backpacking' hasn't always meant being a young independent
partying traveller - from starters it meant (and still does) being a
serious wildlife camper and long distance walker who carries all the
supplies in a backpack (that needs to be huge on long walks). And Australia is a great country
for those
travellers too! Check out the page about backpacking
equipment if you are planning to head to one of those
wilderness
camping
trips.
