Ancestors from Charters Towers

I was born in Brisbane, though I am currently living in the UK. Whilst tracing my family tree I discovered that my maternal grandfather's birth place was Charters Towers. I visited this site to find out about the place and have been thrilled to be able to see it and to look at some of the historic buildings that would have been around in my "pops" time.

If there are any family still around I would be delighted to get in touch and have more information about my family. My grandfather was Ernest Walter O'Brien, born 1895/6; his occupation in 1946 was "bodybuilder" and I believe he had 2 or 3 brothers; he married a Daisy Galwey from Arbroath in Scotland, UK.
